Mutter hat auf die Entbindungsstation immer ein Holzkreuz mitgenommen, dabei hatte ihr Doktor Szilágyi gesagt: „Meine Liebe, das wird kein gutes Ende nehmen, schon das letzte Mal habe ich fast Schwierigkeiten bekommen.“ Mutter zuckte nur mit den Schultern, während sie im Inneren weinte, was vielleicht auch die anderen sehen konnten, Doktor Szilágyi aber ganz bestimmt, dann legte sie sich auf das Entbindungsbett, hielt das Holzkreuz ganz fest in der Hand, und wir kamen. Ich war der Neunte.”
